Ingredients 

  1. Meat (chicken, beef, mutton) – ½ kg
  2. Onions – 2 large (finely chopped)
  3. Ginger garlic paste – 2 tablespoons 
  4. Wheat (dalia) – 1 cup
  5. Chana daal – 1 cup
  6. Moong daal – 1 cup
  7. Masoor daal – 1 cup
  8. Mash daal – 1 cup
  9. Cooking Oil or ghee – ½ cup

  2. Red chilli powder – 2 teaspoons
  3. Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon

  1. Sliced Onion – 1(medium size)
  2. Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoons
  3. Cinnamon Sticks – 2

  3. Sliced green chillies
  4. Ginger (julienned cut)
  5. Fresh Coriander (chopped)

Detailed Recipe of Haleem

Step:1 Start by soaking all grains and lentils

First, wash and soak all the lentils and wheat separately in water  for at least 1 to 2 hours. This procedure helps them to blend smoothly.

Step:2 Cook the Meat

In the next step, take a large pot and add onions and stir continuously until golden brown. Then add ginger-garlic paste, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and coriander powder mix well. Add meat or cook until the meat changes colour. Add 3-4 cups of water, cook until the meat becomes very tender. Once cooked, shred the mutton and remove bones. 

Step:3 Cook the Lentils and Wheat

In another pot, add soaked wheat and all the lentils with some salt and turmeric powder and cook until they are completely soft and mushy. You can also use the pressure cooker for this step.

Now blend the cooked lentils and wheat using a hand blender or wooden masher until it becomes soft and thick. Later, add the shredded meat to this smooth paste and mix well.
